ELLERY READY-TO-WEAR FALL WINTER 17/18 COLLECTION
Silhouettes vary, each a metaphor of her trip. Corsetry, roll necks and restricted tailoring sit amongst lingerie, exaggerated sleeves and boudoir style gowns.
A colour palette of neutrals feature shades of camel, black and white that are then interrupted with a cacophony of purple, pink, yellow and fiery orange.
Furs are luxurious in snow fox and coyote-shorn whites sits alongside chocolate and gold.
Velvet, corduroy and patent leather make for a tactile and opulent shoe offering. Hand-moulded lava-lamp inspired perspex heels transport the collection into a psychedelic realm. Mink covered court shoes are suspended with beads from a dismantled chandelier.
The jewellery collection, reminiscent of a bourgeois, boudoir interior references retro-style light fittings. Freshwater pearls and resin balls punctuate the silver, gold and powder coated metals. Firework earrings explode on the lobe and across the neckline. Wind-chime shaped pieces are both sculptural and mechanical cutting a sharp line visually through the ear.
The overarching attitude of experimentation results in a collection that talks to both sides of a woman.
It understands the desire for two extremes and deconstructs social expectations on a journey towards emancipation.
