In keeping with its pioneering use of innovative materials and high-tech conceptual design—notably exemplified by the X-Ray and the Dark Night, this year Delvaux taps into the sporty look of prep school chic.

Baptised The Hero, Delvaux’s latest creation merges the signature form of its iconic Brillant bag, first released in 1958, and dynamic imagery associated with prep school style. These elements come together in the “ 1829 ” motif adorning The Hero, echoing the sporty chic mood that infuses the Autumn-Winter 2016/2017 Collection, and showing up again here in the over-the-shoulder look, thanks to a two-toned nylon canvas strap.

1829 : A Unique Emblem

In homage to Delvaux’s founding year, the emblematic number 1829 provides yet another occasion for la maison to innovate. The motif is fabricated using a specially developed mould, into which the various colours are injected, thanks to a micro-injection machine that is often used to make high-performance sports equipment.

Each colour has a specific shape: the black background is flat and the white edges rounded, while the predominant colour, red, is bubble-quilted, imbuing the emblem with an even more vibrant visual presence.

Skillful and Precise Design

The Hero is made of vinyl composed of multiple fine layers of green-tinted PVC thermosoldered to ensure perfect homogeneity. The seams of the bag are nothing more than a discreet groove traced by high frequency, in which the stitches nestle invisibly.

Once again Delvaux succeeds in meeting technical challenges with the spirit of innovation. La maison’s research and development teams used intricate techniques and the latest tools of the trade to craft this ingenious new design, right down to the delicate vanilla scent of the bag which is reminiscent of school girl charm.
