THE 2015 AFI Awards Luncheon Red Carpet

Every year the American Film Institute holds an intimate luncheon to honor 10 television shows and 10 movies that it deems culturally and artistically representative of the year’s most significant achievements in the art of the moving image. Winners this year were; Richard Linklater's Boyhood, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, civil-rights drama Selma, the Angelina Jolie directed World War II drama, Unbroken; wrestling drama Foxcatcher; the acclaimed show business satire Birdman; Disney musical Into the Woods; the Los Angeles noir paparazzi themed Nightcrawler; the jazz school drama Whiplash; Clint Eastwood's American Sniper; and the code-breaker drama The Imitation Game.

This gathering always draws some of the industry heavy hitters, and this year was no exception, with Fashion One on hand to record the glamorous arrivals. Esteemed director and actor Clint Eastwood was there representing his controversial smash hit American Sniper, which chronicles deadly sniper Chris Kyles war in Iraq as well as his subsequent PTSD. The cast of Boyhood––a tale literally of a boy’s transformation to adulthood––including Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke, Ellar Coltrane and director Richard Linklater were in attendance. Interstellar, a transcendent science fiction epic was represented by director Christopher Nolan and the entire cast, including current Hollywood darling Matthew McConaughey alongside female co-stars Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain. The Imitation Game, which chronicles the efforts of brilliant but precocious scientist Alan Turing to crack the Nazi’s enigma encryption code during World War 2, was well-represented by a full contingent with star Benedict Cumberbatch joined by his co-star Keira Knightley, along with director Morten Tyldum and writer Graham Moore.
