Chanel’s Garden of Eden for Spring/Summer 2015
The Chanel Haute Couture spring/summer 2015 runway show was a big hit during Paris Fashion Week. Actresses Kristen Stewart, who has landed a Chanel handbag campaign in the upcoming season, and Vanessa Paradis, who has been a spokesmodel for the brand, were among the A-list celebrities to attend the show in Paris and grace the front row.
Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s longtime creative director spoke about the Chanel flowers, original creations that were festooned across the stage, as the décor was reminiscent of a blooming garden. A male model, dressed from head to toe as a debonair Chanel gardener and holding a watering can, opened the show.
The midriff is back in vogue for spring/summer 2015 and is, according to Karl Lagerfeld, the new cleavage.
After reinventing the sneaker in 2014, 2015 was the beanie’s turn for an haute couture Lagerfeld makeover.
Kristen Stewart had nothing but praise for the show. “It was so alive!” she exclaimed.
French actor Gaspard Ulliel, the face of Chanel’s men’s fragrance Bleu de Chanel, also attended the show, saying the show was reminiscent of the Garden of Eden. As for the design of the décor and clothes, Ulliel revealed that he felt as though he was seeing a cross between the work of French painters Henri Rousseau, also known as Le Douanier Rousseau, and Edgar Degas.
The train of the show’s Lagerfeld designed wedding dress took 15 girls one month to complete, but received a first order just ten minutes after the close of the show.
