Simple and Light at Sharon Wauchob for Spring/Summer 2015

Sharon Wauchob’s collection is simple, light and modern. Using fabrics such as silk and satin, she created a line of clothes that exhibit subtle opulence and comfort. Many dresses had sharp, V-neck collars, with scalloped hems. Set in a palette of black, white, and taupe and coupled with flat shoes, this collection capitalizes on the concept of moving freely in a modern world.

In an interview with Fashion One, Wauchob said, “I was looking at the mix between late 60s and early 70s, and that eccentricity, that sort of youthful spirit….It’s had a London moment as well….The flat shoes, the silhouette, that ease of just wearing a tunic top.”

A standout piece was a white satin longline blazer, with taupe fringe and a paisley lapel.

Kakuyasu Uchiide, artistic director of Shu Uemura Cosmetics, was in charge of makeup for the show. He made the decision to go for a natural, feminine look for makeup artistry, rather than replicate the era itself. “There are two key points to the look,” said Uchiide. “One is the base makeup…[it] should be pure, natural and dewy….No need to use eyeliners…Just have pink eyeliners on the crease here [on the inner part of the eyelid.”

James Pecis, the lead hairstylist, created a hairstyle that juxtaposed the soft sensuality of the clothes. “It's a bit of a strong, controlled, geometric ponytail. Very clean lines, strong sectioning patterns.”
