Ladies of the Pit-Stop

Jean Charles de Castelbajac's collection for the spring/summer 2015 season was brightly-colored and tailored for the jet-setting woman. Fusing his trademark passion for pop art with avant-garde sensibilities, de Castelbajac has crafted a collection that is feminine yet adaptable to the contemporary woman's ambitious lifestyle. The overall show was themed by car racing, as most of the women wore bold face visors, and most of the clothes had color-blocked prints along with road lines on the sleeve.

"Especially on the street, I feel that one doesn’t wear clothes, it’s the clothes that wear us," said de Castelbajac in a post-show interview. "So I want clothes for a strong woman…I chose girls that have never catwalked before. For three weeks, I went to the cafés, I took the metro, the bus, and looked out for girls who I thought could work for me. That's why it's incredible, because they're real Parisians."

The colors of choice were berry, canary yellow, cobalt blue and black. These hues were utilized in a graphic design of bold lines and abstract prints. With these aesthetic choices, the mostly white clothing was elevated from chic basics into a cutting edge wardrobe. Tunics were utilized, along with large-lapeled oversized jackets, and a coral jumpsuit. A standout piece was a transparent white tunic with a bandeau chest and sheer raglan sleeves.

"Today, I feel we represent a new elegance…I simply want to make clothes for the modern woman."
