Anna Wintour at The Met & Prada Faces Investigation

New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met) is renaming its Costume Institute after one of the most important figures in American fashion, Vogue's Anna Wintour. The Vogue editor-in-chief has been a trustee for fifteen years and is one of the principal figures responsible for one of the biggest fashion spectacles of New York City, the Costume Institute Gala at The Met, which raises millions each year. The new Anna Wintour Costume Center which is set to reopen in May will have undergone a $40-million renovation. The pristine renewed space will include a 4,200-square-foot main gallery, an updated costume conservation laboratory and new study and storage facilities.

Prada in the Tax-Man's Crosshairs
Italian Fashion Designer Miuccia Prada and her husband Prada's chief executive Patrizio Bertelli are under investigation by Italian tax authorities as part of a tax avoidance probe instigated by Milan prosecutors. A spokesman for lawyers representing Prada holdings said they were unaware of the investigation, while Milan's public prosecutors declined to comment. Prada is the latest in a series of high profile firms, including other luxury apparel manufacturers, to face scrutiny from Italy’s tax authorities who are reacting to the global economic crisis which has eroded taxable revenues throughout the country.

The Ethical Fashion Show, a two day festival as part of Berlin Fashion week, has concluded successfully, a testament to the industry's and public's growing interest in ethical and sustainability in fashion. The event saw a total of 124 labels from 16 countries present their collections and works.
