John Galliano’s Lawsuit Dismissed
British designer John Galliano has lost the wrongful dismissal case against his former employers Dior and LVMH, the parent company of his eponymous brand Galliano. The designer had asked for damages between €2.4 and €13 million for his dismissal in 2011, following a highly publicized incident, in which he appeared to cast anti-semitic slurs in a Paris cafe. John Galliano had asserted that Dior and LVMH were fully aware of his spiraling addictions and his deteriorating mental and physical health, and had failed in the duty of care they owed him. While the designer’s case has been thrown out, the newly appointed creative director of Maison Martin Margiela is reported to be in excellent spirits following a lengthy period spent in rehab and a break from the industry.
Valentino to Show in Rome
Italian luxury brand Valentino is returning to its historic roots, skipping its fall/winter couture show in Paris in July, to show in Rome. The decision was made to celebrate the opening of its new flagship store in the city’s Piazza Miganelli, a location situated near the company's historic headquarters. The move is a temporary one, with the label resuming its place in Paris for its spring/summer collection in January 2016.
