Raf Simons’ Dior Documentary
Raf Simons’ work for Dior is about to be immortalized in a new ‘fly on the wall’ style documentary, to premiere at the opening of the Tribeca Film Festival’s World Documentary competition. The film Dior and I directed by Frederic Tcheng, chronicles Raf Simons creation of his debut collection for Dior in 2012. The documentary is said to be a triumphant melding of the mundane and the pressure filled daily components of creating the collection. The film highlights the creative genius that is Raf Simons and also the talented team of skilled craftsmen around him.
Proenza Schouler Paris Exhibition
New York based womenswear and accessories brand Proenza Schouler has taken over one of the world's oldest department stores, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris, for their latest exhibition, a 2,500-square-foot display on the ground floor. The show features an array of mannequins dressed in archival outfits from the labels past collections, showcasing the unique high tech fabrics that the design duo are renowned for. A short documentary gives insight into the personal life of the the designers. The exhibition also features a grand visual display of 10 windows facing onto the Rue de Sèvres.
The Business at Chloé
French luxury fashion house Chloé, has announced an ambitious development strategy involving the popular diffusion brand See by Chloé. The plans include opening mono-brand boutiques for the label, alongside the launch of a new fragrance and diversification into other product categories like jewelry and shoes. Chloé, CEO Geoffroy de La Bourdonnaye admitted that whilst the company has had disappointing first-half year sales, due to production issues, the company was overall experiencing a period of “unprecedented growth’.
