Proenza Schouler’s Swimwear Line & Karl Lagerfeld Sneakers

New York based womenswear and accessories brand Proenza Schouler is set to launch its first swimwear line in collaboration with Swimwear Anywhere Inc. Scheduled for release in October and comprised of 20 styles including bikinis and one-piece swimwear, the range is inspired by street and surf culture and features large archival prints.
Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld is being sued by trainer and sportswear company New Balance. New Balance alleges the renowned designer has used the block capital ‘K’ in place of its famous ‘N’ logo on a pair of trainers and that otherwise the shoes are identical. New Balance has used the iconic logo since the 1970’s and prior to the lawsuit been filed was alerted to the potential copyright infringement by irritate articles on the internet discussing the similarities between Karl Lagerfeld’s eponymous line and New Balance sneakers.
American celebrity and hip-hop star Pharrell Williams has apologized through his publicist for a cover photo shoot for Elle UK where he appears wearing a Native American headdress. The photo raised the ire of the internet masses, and created a storm on twitter with the public criticizing the cultural appropriation as insensitive and misguided.
Italian luxury group Prada have taken a financial hit from the scaling down of its of its wholesale sales, with wholesale revenue falling 25% on the year. The company indicated it will work on cost-cutting to ease margins and also reiterated that an increasing focus on menswear production in its portfolio seems set to boost growth in the coming months.
