DESIGUAL at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York Spring / Summer 2015
Fashion One host Krista Cousins takes you behind the scenes of the Desigual Spring / Summer 2015 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, where the Spanish brand presented a colorful and graphical collection.
Managing director of the brand, Manel Jadraque, spoke about the inspiration behind the new collection: “Today we are showing the collection for 2015, and I like to define the main collection this year as ‘happy folk.’ Happy because the brand is happy – our DNA is about colors and graphics – and folk is the inspiration.”
MAC lead make-up artist Gordon Espinet gave a run down of the look he created for the show: “It’s really about simplicity with this look. All of the girls are going to have a simple look. There’s a natural eyebrow that’s groomed, and a little bit of mascara, as well as a little bit of a tint called ‘Root’ on the eye, and we also used a cheek color called peaches, with which we’ve mixed a mineral product called Lightscapade to give it a highlight. So, it’s a ‘smiling make-up’ as I say to the team.”
Lead hairstylist Marco Santini explained the Desigual hair trend for Spring / Summer 2015. “The look today consisted of a head band with a lot of beautiful, colorful flowers, so we decided to have a texture that was like a loose wave, with some of the girls needing hair extensions.”
Flower prints were the mainstay of the collection, which featured influences from various cultures. Managing director Manel Jadraque considers the key outfits of the collection to be jumpsuits and dresses, which remain popular during the spring and summer months.
Popular Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima walked the runway for the show.
