A Sparkling Parade of Pop at Versace Spring/Summer 2015 Milan Fashion Week

Versace’s recent show in Milan for their Spring/Summer 2015 collection was especially tailored for the popular girls. In an effort to expand the brand to a wider audience, Versace collection was bright, youthful, and full of glitz.

The iconic Medusa heads were out in full force, printed across silk tunics. A standout look was a printed tunic, black shorts, knee-high patent leather boots and large Jackie O sunglasses. All the models’s makeup was done in a natural palate, which reinforces the youthful audience the label is reaching for. Some mini dresses were done in a glittering patent leather, and swished jovially as the women walked the runway. The Greek key frieze motif were etched in the waists of the pieces as well.

Donatella Versace, the Creative Director, discussed her mix of vintage and ambitious looks in a 2012 interview with Interview Magazine: “…So many young people today don’t know Versace’s past and what it stands for. That’s why I do things like the H&M collaboration, because I want to reach a bigger audience of young people. These are the people I look to for inspiration, so I wanted to make it affordable for them to buy a piece in the Versace style. Versace was—and still is—about the sophisticated woman who is elegant, not afraid of her own sensuality and not afraid to dare or take risks in life.”

For those who are looking for a fun and sophisticated daytime look but with an understated extravagance, this collection is for them.
