OPI releases line of nail polish for Disney’s new ‘Oz’ film
"Oz The Great and Powerful" doesn't hit cinemas in the US until March 8, by OPI has stolen a march on the competition in the beauty stakes with a new line of seven nail polishes.
Hot on the heels of its "Skyfall" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" collections, OPI is once again ready to let movie fanatics go crazy with red carpet-ready nails especially themed for the fantasty world of Oz.
Puntastic names include 'Lights of Emerald City' and 'When Monkeys Fly!' and colors range from glittering metallics to soft pastels designed to be layered to create more innovative effects.
There's some technical innovation going on too: "the new Liquid Sand nail lacquer -- What Wizardry is This? -- features OPI's groundbreaking technology for a textured, matte finish infused with reflective sparkle," OPI's Executive VP & Artistic Director, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, told the Moodie Report. "This rich taupe hue was designed for James Franco's character, the great Wizard of Oz," she added.
Directed by "The Evil Dead" creator Sam Raimi, the movie, starring Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and the aforementioned Franco, is being hyped as a major cinematic hit, with 2D and 3D releases set for the spring. Inspired by L. Frank Baum's famous 1900 novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," the film sees the action takes place before the events of the book and the celebrated 1939 film version.
