Pizza Hut creates an ‘eau de pizza’ perfume for fans
Pizza Hut has made good on its promise to bottle the scent of freshly baked pizza dough and herbs with a limited-edition Eau de Pizza Hut perfume.Developed by Pizza Hut Canada, the idea originally started out as a joke on the company’s Facebook page.
"Do you love the smell of a box of Pizza Hut pizza being opened? We thought so. If that smell was a perfume, what would it be called?” asked a post back in August.
After receiving more than 280 comments and generating 180 likes, the ad team jumped on the popularity of the posting and commissioned the real thing.
The result? A scent that smells of freshly baked pizza dough and pizza seasonings.
The first 110 people who direct messaged for a bottle in September will receive their bottle in the coming days.
Strangely enough, it’s not the first time a fast food chain has bottled its signature aromas. In 2008, Burger King launched The Flame by BK, a men’s body spray described as “the scent of seduction with a hint of flame-broiled meat.”
Likewise, Chicago company Farginnay created a bacon-scented cologne, bacōn (pronounced ‘bay-cone’), made with 11 essential oils and an “ever so slight hint of bacon” last year.
